Mikael Kingsbury wins Olympic gold in men’s dual moguls

Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec is a Canadian Olympic gold medalist for a second time at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. On Sunday, Kingsbury won gold in men’s dual moguls. His previous gold medal came in moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

Kingsbury has now won five Olympic medals in freestyle skiing. That is the most number of medals ever won by a male freestyle athlete at the Olympic Winter Games. Kingsbury also won silver in men’s moguls at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.

This was the first time men’s dual moguls has been on the program for an Olympic Winter Games. Jakarta Anthony of Australia was the gold medalist on the women’s side on Saturday.

In the men’s event on Sunday, Kingsbury beat Matyas Kroupa of the Czech Republic 25-10 in the first round, Pavel Kolmakov of Kazakhstan 23-12 in the second round, Jung Dae-yoon of South Korea in the quarterfinals as Jung failed to finish, Takuya Shimakawa of Japan 33-2 in the semifinals, and silver medalist Ikuma Horishima of Japan 30-5 in the final. Matt Graham of Australia won the bronze medal.

Canada is now at nine medals (one gold medal, three silver medals and five bronze medals). They are in 11th placed in the overall medal standings.
