Megan Oldham of Georgetown, Ontario is an Olympic gold medalist in women’s big air skiing. Oldham accomplished the feat on Monday in Livigno, Italy. She is now the second Canadian Olympic gold medalist from the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. Oldham follows Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathes-des-Monts, Quebec, who won the gold medal in men’s dual moguls on Sunday. Interestingly, both Oldham and Kingsbury are freestyle skiers.

Oldham posted a winning score of 180.75 points. Ailing Eileen Gu of China won the silver medal with a score of 179 points, and Flora Tabanelli of Italy won the bronze medal with 178.25 points. Oldham reached the podium by six points. Kristy Muir of Great Britain was in fourth place with 174.75 points.

There were two Canadians in the women’s big air skiing final. World Cup champion Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, who was the gold medal favourite, finished sixth.

The women’s big air freestyle skiing final was delayed because of inclement weather. When the International Ski Federation and International Olympic Committee initially announced the start time of the final, they stated 1pm MT (a 90 minute delay from the original scheduled time). However the event started about 10 minutes before 1pm MT.

This was Oldham’s second medal of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. The first was a bronze medal in women’s slopestyle skiing on February 9.

Canada now has 11 medals (two gold medals, four silver medals, and five bronze medals). They are in 10th place in the overall medal count.
