Toronto Maple Leafs left winger Max Domi of Winnipeg, Manitoba scored his first National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-2 Maple Leafs win over the Ottawa Senators at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. With the win, the Maple Leafs lead the Senators two games to none in the best out of seven series.

Domi scored from defenseman Simon Benoit of Laval, Quebec at 3:09 of the extra period. For Benoit, it was his first Stanley Cup Playoff point. Domi, meanwhile, took a pass from Benoit, eluded two Senators defenders, and delivered a perfect wrist shot that beat Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark.

All three Maple Leafs goal scorers were Canadian. The other two were defenseman Morgan Rielly of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist John Tavares of Mississauga, Ontario. Tavares, who led the Maple Leafs in scoring with two points (one goal and one assist) on Tuesday, won the gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Max Domi is the son of Tie Domi of Windsor, Ontario. Tie Domi was with the Maple Leafs from 1989-90, and again from 1994-2006.  In an interesting statistic according to Chris Cuthbert of Rogers Sportsnet, the last time the Maple Leafs had a 2-0 series lead was in 2002, when they beat the New York Islanders in seven games in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. It was a time when Tie Domi was with the Maple Leafs. Game three of the Maple Leafs and Senators is in Ottawa on Thursday.
