The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced their awards on Wednesday for 2024-25, and four Canadian Olympic gold medalists were award winners. Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec won the Billie Jean King Most Valuable Player Award, and the league’s top forward. Renata Fast of Hamilton, Ontario was the league’s top defenseman. Ann-Renee Desbiens of La Malbaie, Quebec was the league’s top goaltender, and Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario was the league’s top rookie.
Marie-Philip Poulin
The three-time Olympic gold medalist (2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing), had 19 goals and seven assists for 26 points in 30 games for the Montreal Victoire. She was a +17 with 21 penalty minutes, 403 faceoff wins, three power-play goals, one shorthanded goal, six game-winning goals, five shootout goals, and 98 shots on goal. Poulin’s shorthanded goal came on December 6 in a 2-1 win over Ottawa.
Renata Fast
The gold medalist from the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing had six goals and 16 assists for 22 points with the Toronto Sceptres in 30 games. She had 36 penalty minutes, a zero plus/minus, three faceoff wins, two power-play goals, three game-winning goals, and 62 shots on goal.
Ann-Renee Desbiens
The gold medalist from the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing had a record of 15 wins and two losses for the Victoire. She had a goals against average of 1.86 and a save percentage of .932.
Sarah Fillier
The gold medalist and forward from the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing had 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points in 30 games with the New York Sirens. She was a +10 with 35 penalty minutes, 76 faceoff wins, five power-play goals and 105 shots on goal.
Meanwhile, Kori Cheverie of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia was the PWHL Coach of the Year. The Victoire head coach led Montreal to a league high 53 regular season points.
