Marie-Philip Poulin named the PWHL First Star of the Week

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec has been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from December 29, 2025 to January 4, 2026. In two games for the Montreal Victoire, Poulin had three goals and two assists for five points. Poulin was also a +3 with six shots on goal, one power-play goal, one game-winning goal, 20 faceoff wins and four hits.

Poulin’s most memorable game of the week took place on Sunday in a 3-2 Montreal win over the Minnesota Frost at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Poulin was involved in all three Montreal goals as she came away with two goals and one assist. Her second goal was the overtime winner as she scored from Canadian Olympic gold medalist Laura Stacey of Mississauga, Ontario and Natalie Mlynkova with one minute and 38 seconds left in the extra period.

This season, Poulin has five goals and six assists for 11 points int nine games. She is a +3 with six penalty minutes, 104 faceoff wins, one power-play goal, one game-winning goal, one shootout goal, five blocked shots and 32 shots on goal. The shootout goal came in a 2-1 Victoire win over the Toronto Sceptres on December 17.

Poulin is a three-time Olympic gold medalist as she struck gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2014 Olympic Winter Ganes in Sochi and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Stacey also won gold at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and now Poulin and Stacey will try to lead Canada to a second straight gold medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
