The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Thursday, the Maple Leafs eliminated the Ottawa Senators in the all-Canadian Eastern Conference first round playoff series four games to two with a 4-2 victory at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.

Calgary-born Swede William Nylander led the Maple Leafs in scoring with three points (two goals and one assist) in game six. He almost did not have the opportunity to play according to Elliotte Friedman of Rogers Sportsnet. That is because his name was not on the active roster on the lineup card prior to the contest. However, it was reportedly caught by a National Hockey League official before puck drop, and the Maple Leafs were able to correct their mistake.

Max Pacioretty also had a multi-point game for Toronto as he had one goal and one assist for two points. He scored the series clinching game-winner with five minutes and 39 seconds left in the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock. Max Domi of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Pontus Holmberg had the assists. The other Maple Leafs goal scorer was Auston Matthews.

With the win, the Maple Leafs next play the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. The Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games.
