Macklin Celebrini of Vancouver, British Columbia has recorded his second career National Hockey League hat trick. He accomplished the feat in a 6-5 San Jose Sharks overtime win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Celebrini’s first goal came at 6:17 of the first period on the power-play from William Eklund and Dmitry Orlov to put the Sharks up 2-0. He then put the Sharks up 3-1 from Will Smith and Eklund with nine seconds left in the first period to put the Sharks up 3-1. Celebrini’s hat trick came with six seconds left in the second period to tie the game at four.
The first NHL hat trick for Celebrini came on April 9, 2025 in an 8-7 Sharks loss to the Minnesota Wild. So far this season, Celebrini has five goals and six assists for 11 points in seven games. He is a +1 with two penalty minutes, three power-play points, 17 shots on goal, 65 faceoff wins, three blocked shots, four hits, two takeaways and 10 giveaways.
This was the Sharks’s first win of the 2025-26 NHL regular season. They are one of three teams in the NHL with only one win. The other two franchises are the Tampa Bay Lightning (which is a huge surprise) and the Calgary Flames.
