
Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario remains in contention at the 2025 Myrtle Beach Classic in South Carolina. On Saturday, he shot a third round score of one-under-par 70, and improved to -11.
Hughes is currently in third place and two strokes off the lead. American Carson Young is the leader at -13, and American Harry Higgs is in second place at -12.
On Saturday, Hughes had three birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the fourth, 10th, and 15th holes, and bogeyed the sixth and eighth holes.
After three rounds, there is a five-way tie for fourth place at -10. There you can find Americans Davis Shore, Norman Xiong, and Danny Walker, New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, and France’s Victor Perez. In order for Hughes to end up winning the tournament, he will have to figure out a way to be better than he has been the last two rounds where he has posted scores of 69 and 70.
Hughes has won two PGA events in the past. He was victorious at the 2016 RSM Classic at Saint Simons Island, Georgia in a five person playoff, and then the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.
One Canadian has won on the PGA Tour this season. Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba won the Sony Open in Hawaii in January.
