Mackenzie Blackwood records 15th NHL career shutout

Colorado Avalanche goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood of Thunder Bay, Ontario recorded his 15th National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Avalanche win over the Nashville Predators at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Blackwood made 35 saves overall. He made 16 saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period and eight saves in the third period. Luke Evangelista of Toronto, Ontario led the Predators with seven shots on goal.

Two Canadians scored for the Avalanche. They were Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia and 40-year-old Brent Burns of Barrie, Ontario. Burns is the oldest active player in the NHL at 40 years and 259 days old.

Of Blackwood’s 15 NHL shutouts, four have been with the Avalanche, eight have been with the New Jersey Devils and three were with the San Jose Sharks.

So far this season, Blackwood has a record of three wins and one loss in extra time in four contests. He has one shutout with a goals against average of 2.47 and a save percentage of .911.

The Avalanche are having an incredible season to start 2025-26. They have a record of 15 wins, one regulation loss, and five losses in extra time. Their 35 points are the most in the entire NHL.
