Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Luguentz Dort of Montreal, Quebec has been named to the 2024-25 National Basketball Association All-Defensive Team according to Robby Kalland of CBS Sports on Thursday. Dort was chosen alongside Cleveland Cavaliers power forward and 2024-25 Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley, Atlanta Hawks shooting guard and 2024-25 Most Improved Player winner Dyson Daniels, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, and Houston Rockets small forward Amen Thompson.
Dort played an integral role on the Thunder this past season. He was in fact one of two Oklahoma City Thunder players from Canada in the starting five. He was joined by point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario, who was the NBA’s most valuable player. Dort and Gilgeous-Alexander were two of three Canadian players honoured by the NBA this week. They were joined by Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey of Toronto, Ontario, who was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
This past season, Dort averaged 2.9 defensive rebounds per game, 1.1 steals per game, and half a block per game. He was also on a Thunder team that was excellent as a team from a defensive perspective. Oklahoma City gave up only 107.6 points per game. Only the Orlando Magic (105.5 points per game), and the Boston Celtics (107.2 points per game) gave up less.
