Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud win pairs bronze at 2026 World Figure Skating Championships

Lia Pereira of Milton, Ontario and Trennt Michaud of Belleville, Ontario have won Canada’s first medal at the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. On Thursday, Pereira and Michaud won the bronze medal in the pairs competition.

Pereira and Michaud posted a score of 216.09 points. Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany won the gold medal with a score of 228.33 points. Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava of Georgia won the silver medal with a score of 218.41 points. Pereira and Michaud reached the podium by 0.99 points. Yuna Nsgaoka and Sumitada Moriguchi of Japan finished in fourth place with a score of 209.13 points.

It was a notable competition for Pereira and Michaud. In the short program, they had a personal beast score of 75.52 points and in the long program, they had a personal beat score of 140.57 points.

Team Canada will have a chance for two more medals at the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. In the ice dance competition, Canadian Olympic bronze medalists Piper Gilles of Toronto, Ontario and Paul Poirier of Ottawa, Ontario will be competing. Meanwhile in the men’s event, Stephen Gologolev of Toronto is currently in fifth place after the short program and only 2.11 points out of bronze. The bronze medal for Pereira and Michaud will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in the French Alps.
