
Canadian Olympic silver medalist Laurie Blouin of Quebec City, Quebec won the gold medal on Saturday in a World Cup women’s slopestyle snowboarding event in Aspen, Colorado. For Blouin, it was her 14th World Cup snowboarding medal. She has won three gold medals, seven silver medals, and four bronze medals. Nine of the 14 medals have come in slopestyle and five medals have come in big air.
Blouin posted a score of 81.21 points. Mari Fukada of Japan won the silver medal with 77.26 points. Kokomo Murase of Japan won the bronze medal with a score of 75.36 points. Blouin reached the podium by 15.35 points. Momo Suzuki of Japan finished in fourth place with a score of 65.86 points.
All three of Blouin’s World Cup snowboarding medals have been in slopestyle. The first was in Calgary, Alberta on February 16, 2020, and the second was in Bakuriani, Georgia on March 6, 2022.
This was the first women’s slopestyle snowboarding World Cup event of the year. There will also be events in Laax, Switzerland on January 18, Flachau, Austria on March 21 and Silvaplana, Switzerland on March 29.
Blouin’s Olympic silver medal came at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. Her gold medal in Aspen will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina Ampezzo.
