
Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Kiondre Smith of Markham, Ontario led the Tiger-Cats to a 37-33 win over the British Columbia Lions on Sunday night at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Smith had two touchdowns catches in the four point Hamilton win. Smith’s first touchdown catch was for nine yards at 5:03 of the third quarter to tie the game at 20. Smith’s second touchdown catch was for one yard with 16 seconds left in the game and completed the scoring. Both of Smith’s touchdowns came from Bo Levi Mitchell. Smith finished the game with 14 catches for 138 receiving yards. For the season, he has 32 catches for 365 receiving yards and three touchdown catches.
Smith was one of two Canadians to score a touchdown for Hamilton. The other was wide receiver Brendan O’Leary-Orange of Toronto, Ontario, who caught a 44 yard touchdown pass from Mitchell with two minutes and 50 seconds left in the third period. At the time, the Tiger-Cats pulled within a field goal at 33-30 Lions. O’Leary-Orange finished the game with three catches for 63 receiving yards. For the season, he has nine catches for 131 receiving yards and one touchdown. With the win, the Tiger-Cats improved to a record of five wins and two losses, and are in a first place tie in the East Division with the Montreal Alouettes.
There was a third Canadian to score a touchdown on a winning team in week eight of the 2025 Canadian Football League season. Samuel Emilus of Montreal, Quebec had a 15-yard touchdown catch for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a 21-18 win over the Edmonton Elks. At the time, the Roughriders went up 8-4. Emilus finished the game with six catches for 113 receiving yards. For the season, Emilus has 20 catches for 361 receiving yards and two touchdowns. With the win, the Roughriders have the best record in the CFL at six wins and one loss.
