
Kevin Drury of Toronto, Ontario and Courtney Hoffos of Invermere, British Columbia have won World Cup ski cross medals in Val Thorens, France. Drury won the gold medal on Friday and Hoffos won the silver medal on Thursday.
In Thursday’s World Cup women’s ski cross big final event, Hoffos finished behind gold medalist Sandra Naeslund of Sweden and ahead of bronze medalist Mylene Ballet Baz of France. Hoffos finished second to Marielle Berger of Sabbatel of France in the fourth quarterfinal and second to Daniela Maier of Germany in the second semifinal.
In Friday’s World Cup men’s ski cross big final event, Drury was ahead of silver medalist Simone Deromedis of Italy and bronze medalist Tristan Takats of Austria. Drury was second in the first elimination heat (behind David Mobaerg of Sweden), second in the first quarterfinal (behind Mobaerg again) and second in the first semifinal (behind Ryo Sugai of Japan).
In the World Cup men’s ski cross standings, Drury is in second place with 120 points. Deromedis leads with 180 points. In the World Cup women’s ski cross standings, Hoffos is also in second place, as she has 116 points. Naeslund leads with 200 points.
This is Drury’s 19th World Cup ski cross medal. He has six gold medals, six silver medals, and seven bronze medals. This is Hoffos’s 11th World Cup ski cross medal. She has six silver medals and five bronze medals. The medals for Drury and Hoffos will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
