Kayle Osborne records second career PWHL shutout

Kayle Osborne (X)

Kayle Osborne of Westport, Ontario recorded her second career shutout in Professional Women’s Hockey League history on Saturday night. She accomplished the feat in a 4-0 New York Sirens win over the Ottawa Charge at Toronto Dominion Place in Ottawa, Ontario. Osborne made 11 saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and nine saves in the third period. This was the Sirens’s first game of the entire PWHL 2025-26 season.

It was a memorable night for another Sirens player. That is because Taylor Girard had a natural hat trick in the third period. All four of the Sirens goals came in the final stanza. Maddi Wheeler of Erinsville, Ontario also had three points for the Sirens as she had three assists. All three of Wheeler’s assists came on goals by Girard.

Osborne recorded her first career PWHL shutout on January 27, 2025. Remarkably, that shutout also came against the Charge as Osborne made 31 saves for the victory.

While growing up in Ottawa, Osborne not only played hockey while attending John McCrae Secondary School. She also played volleyball and soccer. Prior to playing for the Sirens, Osborne played in the NCAA. She played four years at Colgate University in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
