Kate Miller and Kaetlyn Fung win World Cup diving bronze in Montreal

Kate Miller of Ottawa, Ontario and Kaetlyn Fung of London, Ontario won a bronze medal at a World Aquatics Diving World Cup on Montreal, Quebec on Saturday. For Miller it was her fifth medal at either a Diving Grand Prix or Diving World Cup event. For Fung, it was her sixth medal at either a Diving Grand Prix or Diving World Cup event.

Miller and Fung placed third in the women’s 10 metre synchronized platform diving event. They posted a score of 296.94 points. Minjie Zhang and Wei Lu of China won the gold medal with a score of 349.98 points. Mi Hwa Kim and Jin Mi Jo of North Korea won the silver medal with 304.92 points. Miller and Fung reached the podium by 3.72 points. Ellie Cole and Milly Puckeridge of Australia finished in fourth place with a score of 293.22 points.

Miller represented Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She came very close to reaching the podium in the women’s 10 metre synchronized diving platform event alongside Caeli McKay of Calgary, Alberta, but finished in fourth place. McKay has since retired from competitive diving. The bronze medal for Miller and Fung will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
