Winnipeg’s Kaitlyn Lawes came through with a statement win at the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, Ontario. On Monday night at Mississauga’s Paramount Fine Foods Centre, Lawes defeated Gimli, Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson by a score of 9-4. This was a battle of undefeated teams. With the win, Lawes improved to a record of five wins and zero losses. Einarson dropped to a record of four wins and one loss.

It was a dominant first half of the game for Lawes as she had a 7-2 lead after five ends. Lawes’s key shot was an angle raise double takeout for three points that put her up 3-1 after two ends. Lawes then stole points in the sixth and seventh ends.

There is only one more undefeated team. That is Manitoba’s Kelsey Calvert, who leads Pool B at four wins and zero losses. Calvert’s Monday win was a dominant 9-2 victory over Northern Ontario’s Krista Scharf.

Three more teams are above .500. Nova Scotia’s Christina Black improved to 3-1, while two Alberta teams are both at 2-1. They are skipped by Selena Sturmay and Kayla Skrlik. On Tuesday night, Sturmay will face Skrlik in a true Battle of Alberta. That is because Sturmay is from Edmonton and Skrlik is from Calgary.
