St. Louis Blues centre Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario recorded his fifth career National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday night. He accomplished the feat in a 5-1 Blues win over the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Kyrou scored the last three Blues goals in the game. He put St. Louis up 3-0 from Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and defenseman Cam Fowler at 12:22 of the second period. Kyrou then scored at 11:30 of the third period from Dustin Holloway of Calgary, Alberta and Justin Faulk to put the Blues up 4-1, and then closed out the scoring with an empty netter from Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario and Pavel Buchnevich with two minutes and 20 seconds left in the third period.
All of the Blues goal scorers were Canadian. The other two were Jake Neighbours of Calgary, and Schenn. Three Blues had multi-point games. In addition to Kyrou, Schenn had one goal and one assist, and Thomas had two assists.
Kyrou’s first NHL hat trick came on December 19, 2022 in a 5-1 Blues win over the Vancouver Canucks. That was followed by three goal games in a 5-2 Blues win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 11, 2023, in a 5-2 Blues win over the New York Rangers on January 11, 2024, and in a 5-4 Blues win over the Wild on March 23, 2024. Remarkably in all five of Kyrou’s hat tricks, the Blues have won the game with five goals scored.
This season, Kyrou has 27 goals and 26 assists for 53 points in 67 games. He is a +12 with 18 penalty minutes, 13 power-play points, four game-winning goals, 189 shots on goal, four faceoff wins, 30 blocked shots, 41 hits, 17 takeaways, and 71 giveaways.
With the win, the Blues improve to a record of 32 wins, 28 regulation losses and seven losses in extra time for 71 points. They are two points back of the Canucks for a playoff spot.
