Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario recorded his 19th National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 2-0 St. Louis Blues win over the Montreal Canadiens at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Binnington made 25 saves for the shutout. He had eight saves in the first period, 10 saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period.
Brendan Gallagher of Edmonton, Alberta had six shots on goal to lead the Canadiens. Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario had the second Blues goal as he scored at 10:13 of the second period shorthanded.
This was Binnington’s first shutout of the season. All 19 of Binnington’s shutouts have come with the Blues.
It has not been the best season for Binnington. He has a record of eight wins, 10 regulation losses and six losses in extra time. Binnington also has a goals against average of 3.40 and a save percentage of .874.
However, last week Binnington received a personal achievement. That is because he was selected as one of three goaltenders to represent Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. Binnington was chosen alongside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native Darcy Kuemper of the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary, Alberta native Logan Thompson of the Washington Capitals.
With the win, the Blues improve to 17-8-8. They are one point back of the Los Angeles Kings for a playoff spot.
