
St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his third career National Hockey League shutout. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Blues win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
Hofer made 28 saves overall. He made seven saves in the first period, nine saves in the second period, and 12 saves in the third period. Josh Doan, the son of Canadian Olympian Shane Doan of Halkirk, Alberta, led the Sabres with four shots on goal.
Offensively, the Blues were led by Mathieu Joseph of Laval, Quebec. He was involved in all three Blues goals as he had one goal and two assists.
Hofer’s first NHL shutout came on October 26, 2023 in a 3-0 Blues win over the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. Hofer’s second NHL shutout came on October 17, 2024 in a 1-0 Blues win over the New York Islanders.
So far in 2025-26, Hofer has a record of two wins and three losses. He has a goals against average of 4.08 and a save percentage of .864. Hofer’s only other win this season came on October 11. Hofer made 27 saves on 29 shots as the Blues defeated the Flames 4-2. Once again, that game was in Calgary.
