Joel Hofer records fourth career NHL shutout

St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his fourth career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday night. He accomplished the feat in a 1-0 Blues win over the Utah Mammoth at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Hofer made 18 saves. He made four saves in the first period, four saves in the second period, and 10 saves in the third period.

Dylan Holloway of Calgary, Alberta scored the only goal of the game. It came with one minute and 50 seconds left in the second period from Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario, and defenseman Philip Broberg.

This was Hofer’s second shutout this season. He previously blanked the Buffalo Sabres in a 3-0 Blues win on November 6.

Hofer’s first NHL shutout came on October 26, 2023 in a 3-0 Blues win over the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. Hofer’s second NHL shutout came on October 17, 2024 in a 1-0 Blues win over the New York Islanders.

In 2025-26, Hofer has a record of three wins, five regulation losses and two losses in extra time. Remarkably, two of Hofer’s three wins are shutouts. Hofer also has a goals against average of 3.45 and a save percentage of .877. With the win, the Blues are two points back of the Mammoth for a playoff spot.
