
Jake Allen of Fredericton, New Brunswick recorded his 29th National Hockey League career shutout on Friday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-0 New Jersey Devils win over the Buffalo Sabres at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
Allen made 42 saves. He made 10 saves in the first period, 15 saves in the second period, and 17 saves in the third period. Sabres defenseman Owen Power of Mississauga, Ontario led the Sabres with five shots on goal.
Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon of New Westminster, British Columbia led the Devils in scoring with two points. He had one goal and one assist.
This was Allen’s fifth shutout over the last two seasons with the Devils and first in 2025-26. He has 21 shutouts with the St. Louis Blues and three shutouts with the Montreal Canadiens. In 13 games with the Devils this season, Allen has a record of eight wins and four losses with a goals against average of 2.27 and a save percentage of .919.
The Devils improved to a record of 16 wins, seven regulation losses and one loss in extra time for 33 points. New Jersey leads the Eastern Conference. They have the third most points in the NHL. The only two teams with more points are the Colorado Avalanche with 40 and the Dallas Stars with 36.
