Islanders acquire Bo Horvat from the Canucks

According to Isabel Gonzalez of CBS Sports on Monday, the New York Islanders and the Vancouver Canucks were involved in a blockbuster trade. The Islanders acquired center Bo Horvat of London, Ontario for left winger Anthony Beauviller of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Aatu Raty and a first round pick in the 2023 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Islanders are Horvat’s second NHL team. He has been with the Canucks for the last nine seasons. In 49 games in 2022-23, he has 31 goals and 23 assists for 54 points. Horvat is also a +3 with 12 penalty minutes, 18 power-play points, four shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 143 shots on goal, 625 faceoff wins, 30 blocked shots, 37 hits, 27 takeaways, and 15 giveaways. Horvat also has 11 goals and five assists for 16 points in 23 playoff games.

The Canucks are Beauvillier’s second NHL team after seven seasons with the Islanders. In 2022-23, he has nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points in 49 games. He is a -4 with 10 penalty minutes, two game-winning goals, 113 shots on goal, 18 blocked shots, 38 hits, 23 takeaways and 27 giveaways. The game-winning goals for Beauviller this season came in a 3-2 Islanders win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 21, and in a 2-1 Islanders win over the Montreal Canadiens on January 14. Raty meanwhile has two goals for two points in 12 games in 2022-23.
