The 2025 Calgary Stampede is now complete and four Canadians were champions in their disciplines. In rodeo, the Canadian champions were Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta (saddle bronc), Shelby Boisjoli-Meged of Langdon, Alberta (breakaway roping), and Scott Guenthner of Provost, Alberta (steer wrestling). Meanwhile in chuckwagon racing, Chanse Vigen of Calgary, Alberta is the 2025 Rangeland Derby champion.

Thurston won his fourth Calgary Stampede on Sunday after winning three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017. Thurston won $50,000 by posting the best score of 92.5 points. Meanwhile, fellow Canadian Dawson Hay of Wildwood, Alberta finished in second place with a score of 90 points. Thurston thought he won the 2024 Calgary Stampede, but there was a recording error in the final, and he lost to Kade Bruno of Challis, Idaho.

Boisjoli-Meged made history as the first ever Calgary Stampede breakaway roping champion. She had a time of 2.2 seconds and was the only finalist in the championship round not to have a 10 second penalty.

Guenthner won his second Calgary Stampede after previously winning in 2023. Guenthner had a winning time of 3.7 seconds, and beat Will Lummus of Byhalia, Mississippi by four one hundredths of a second.

Vigen’s winning time on Sunday was 1:13.44. He beat Jason Glass of High River, Alberta by 1.27 seconds.
