According to Jesse Campigotto of CBC Sports on Wednesday, former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Scott Rolen was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Rolen played two seasons with the Blue Jays in 2008 and 2009, in addition to seven seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, six seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, and four seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

Rolen batted .288 with 19 home runs and 93 runs batted in during 203 games, 840 plate appearances and 746 at bats. He scored 110 runs and had 215 hits, 59 doubles, three triples, 72 walks, 337 total bases, and eight sacrifice flies. Rolen also was hit by a pitch 14 times, and had an on base percentage of .358 and a slugging percentage of .452. Rolen had a higher batting average with Toronto than he did with any other team.

Two of Rolen’s three triples with the Blue Jays came in Toronto wins. They came in a 10-4 Blue Jays win over the Los Angeles Angels on May 30, 2008, and in a 8-7 Blue Jays win over the Baltimore Orioles on September 17, 2008.

Rolen is one of two corner infielders who played with the Blue Jays to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023. He will be joined by first baseman Fred McGriff, who was elected to the Hall of Fame on December 5.
