We now know the finalists for the 2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. On the women’s side, Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario will be facing Christina Black of Halifax, Nova Scotia. On the men’s side, Brad Jacobs of Calgary, Alberta will be facing Matt Dunstone of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The finals are a best of three for the first time ever at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

In Thursday’s semifinal action from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Black upset Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba by a score of 6-3. The most significant end was the ninth end as Black scored three points with the hammer. The key shots came at the third position. Einarson’s third Val Sweeting flashed her shot, and Black’s third Jill Brothers drew a key shot to the button. This was a significant upset as Black beat Einarson for the first time in nine outings. In the round robin of the 2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, Einarson beat Black 12-5.

On the men’s side, it was a topsy turvy round robin for Dunstone. He won his first four games and then lost his last three games. On Thursday, Dunstone had a huge double takeout for three points in the sixth end en route to a 9-5 win over Saskatchewan’s Mike McEwen in the semifinal.
