Canadian Olympic bronze medallist Felix Auger-Aliassime of Montreal, Quebec won the 2025 European Open in Brussels, Belgium on Sunday. In the final, Auger-Aliassime defeated Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.

Like Leylah-Annie Fernandez of Montreal, who won the Japan Women’s Open this weekend, Auger-Aliassime had the service advantage in the final. Auger-Aliassime had 17 aces, one double fault, and won 71% of his second serve points. Lehecka had 10 aces, three double faults, and won 51% of his second serve points.

Auger-Aliassime was ranked second at the European Open, and Lehecka was ranked third. The only player ranked higher than Auger-Aliassime was Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who lost to France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 7-6 in the quarterfinals.

This is the second time in Auger-Aliassime’s career he has won the European Open. He previously beat Sebastian Korda of the United States 6-3, 6-4 in 2022, when the event was in Antwerp, Belgium. Auger-Aliassime is the first multi-singles winner in the history of the European Open.

Lehecka had been to the European Open final two straight years. Last year he lost to Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain in the final, 7-5, 6-1.

Auger-Aliassime has now won eight ATP men’s singles tournaments, and three this year. He previously beat Korda 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the final of Adelaide, and Aleksandar Kovacevic of the United States 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 in Montpellier. Auger-Aliassine won his Olympic bronze medal in mixed doubles with Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa, Ontario at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
