According to Darrell Paquette of CFL News Hub, the Edmonton Elks have signed veteran wide receivers Adarius Bowman and Emmanuel Arcenaux. The signing of Bowman is a peculiar one because he has come out of retirement and has not played in the Canadian Football League since being with the Montreal Alouettes in 2018.
Bowman is reunited in Edmonton with head coach Chris Jones. The two won a Grey Cup together in Edmonton in 2015. Bowman was initially with Edmonton from 2011 to 2017. In that time, he wa a three-time CFL All-Star in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
In 11 CFL seasons with the Alouettes, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Edmonton, Bowman has 652 catches for 9491 yards, and 49 touchdown catches. At 36 years of age, it will be interesting to see how much Bowman has left in the tank. Bowman’s best season in the CFL came in 2016 with Edmonton. That year he had career highs in catches (120), receiving yards (1761), and touchdown catches (nine).
Arceneaux played last year with the Frisco Fighters of the Indoor Football League in the United States. In his time in the CFL from 2009 to 2019, Arceneaux played eight seasons for the British Columbia Lions from 2009 to 2010, and again from 2013 to 2018, before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2019. In 140 games, he had 578 catches for 8418 yards and 57 touchdowns.
