Elizabeth Hosking records first career World Cup snowboarding gold medal

Elizabeth Hosking of Longueuil, Quebec recorded her first career World Cup snowboarding gold medal on Saturday. She accomplished the feat by winning a women’s halfpipe snowboarding competition at Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park. Hosking had a winning score of 82.5 points and successfully executed a front-side 900 according to the Canadian Press.

Shaotong Wu of China won the silver medal with a score of 77.25 points. Isabelle Loetscher of Switzerland won the bronze medal with a score of 76 points. Hosking reached the podium by 15 points. Lu Yang of China was in fourth place with a score of 67.5 points.

Hosking’s first World Cup medal was a silver medal in Copper Mountain, Colorado on December 16, 2022. The last two World Cup halfpipe snowboarding medals have been in Calgary. Hosking won the silver medal on February 10, 2023, and the bronze medal on February 21, 2025.

In the World Cup women’s halfpipe snowboarding standings, Hosking is currently in fourth place with 124 points. She is behind Gaon Choi of South Korea (200 points), Wu (162 points), and Loetscher (125 points). Hosking beat Wu and Loetscher in Calgary on Saturday. The gold medal for Hosking will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Olympic women’s halfpipe snowboarding competition will take place on February 12 at 11:30 am MT.
