
Canadian Olympic silver medalist Eliot Grondin of Sainte-Marie, Quebec won the silver medal in a men’s snowboardcross World Cup in Dongbeiya, China on Saturday. For Grondin, it was his 26th World Cup snowboardcross medal. He has won 13 gold medals, eight silver medals and five bronze medals.
Grondin placed behind gold medalist Jakob Dusek of Austria and ahead of bronze medalist Adam Lambert of Australia. Grondin won the first elimination heat, and finished second to Dusek in the first quarterfinal heat and first semifinal heat in addition to the big final.
In the World Cup snowboardcross standings, Grondin is in second place after three events with 161 points. The World Cup leader is Lambert with 220 points. However, the next five World Cup snowboarding events are all after the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. There are two in Erzurum, Turkey on March 7 and March 8, one in Montafon, Austria on March 15, and two in Mont St. Anne, Quebec on March 28 and March 29.
Grondin won his Olympic silver medal in men’s snowboardcross at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. He also won the Olympic bronze medal in mixed team snowboardcross at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing with Meryeta O’Dine of Prince George, British Columbia.
