
The 2026 National Hockey League trade deadline took place on Friday. Here is a list of the eight best Canadians who were traded.
Nazem Kadri
The Calgary Flames traded centre Nazem Kadri of London, Ontario to the Colorado Avalanche with a fourth round pick in 2027 for prospect Max Curran, Victor Olofsson and two draft picks. Kadri returns to the Avalanche after being there from 2019 to 2022. This season with the Flames, Kadri had 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points in 61 games.
Bobby McMann
The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded centre Bobby McMann of Wainwright, Alberta to the Seattle Kraken for a fourth round pick in 2026 and a a second round pick in 2027. This past season with the Maple Leafs, McMann had 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 50 games.
Brayden Schenn
The St. Louis Blues traded centre Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon to the New York Islanders for left winger Jonathan Drouin of Ste-Agathe, Quebec and prospect Marcus Gidlof, along with a first and third round pick in 2026. The Islanders are Schenn’s fourth NHL team after playing for the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues. This past season with the Blues, Schenn had 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 61 games.
Corey Perry
The Los Angeles Kings trade right winger Corey Perry of Peterborough, Ontario to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second round pick in 2028. Perry returns to the Lightning after being there from 2021 to 2023. This past season with the Kings, Perry had 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 50 games.
Logan Stanley
The Winnipeg Jets have traded defenseman Logan Stanley of Kitchener, Ontario to the Buffalo Sabres with defenseman Luke Schenn of Saskatoon for Isak Rosen, Jacob Bryson of London and two draft picks. Stanley had nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in 59 games with the Jets this season.
Jonathan Drouin
The Blues are Drouin’s fifth NHL team following the Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche and Nee York Islanders. He had three goals and 18 assists for 21 points in 55 games with the Islanders this season.
Tanner Pearson
The Winnipeg Jets traded left winger Tanner Pearson of Kitchener, Ontario to the Buffalo Sabres for a seventh round pick in 2026. He has previously played for the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights and Jets. In 52 games with the Jets, Pearson has seven goals and six assists for 13 points.
Scott Laughton
The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded centre Scott Laughton of Oakville, Ontario to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional third round pick in 2026. He has previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Maple Leafs. This season with Toronto, Laughton has eight goals and four assists for 12 points.
