The Edmonton Oilers are set to play in their ninth Stanley Cup Final in franchise history. On Thursday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 6-3 to win the Western Conference Finals of the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs four games to one.

Two Canadians led the Oilers with two points each. Oilers captain and centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario had one goal and one assist for two points, while defenseman Jake Walman of Toronto, Ontario had two assists. Three Canadians scored for the Oilers. The other two Canadian Oilers goal scorers were Canadian Olympic gold medalist Corey Perry of Peterborough, Ontario and Jeff Skinner of Toronto. Perry won a gold medal in men’s hockey at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

The Oilers Stanley Cup victories came in 1984 (over the New York Islanders), 1985, 1987 (both over the Philadelphia Flyers), and 1988 and 1990 (both over the Boston Bruins). Edmonton also lost the 1983 Stanley Cup Final to the Islanders, the 2006 Stanley Cup Final to the Carolina Hurricanes, and the 2024 Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers. It is the Panthers that the Oilers will face in the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals.
