The Edmonton Oilers are postseason bound in the 2026 National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Oilers made the playoffs after the Philadelphia Flyers clobbered the Winnipeg Jets 7-1 on Saturday. The Jets loss meant they were unable to pass the Oilers in the Western Conference standings.
The Oilers are currently in second place in the Pacific Division with 90 points. They have a record of 40 wins, 30 regulation losses and 10 losses in extra time.
However, even though Edmonton is in second place, there should be deep concern in Oilerland at the moment. There is a very strong possibility that they could drop to fourth place in the Pacific Division if they lose Monday to the Presidents’ Trophy champion Colorado Avalanche. That is because the Los Angeles Kings have an easy strength of schedule over the next week as they face the three weakest teams in the Pacific Division–the Seattle Kraken, the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. If Edmonton does finish in fourth place, that means they would play two of the top three teams in the Western Conference (the Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars) in the opening two rounds.
The Oilers have been led all season by their captain, Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario. McDavid leads the NHL this season with 86 assists and 133 points.
