Dylan Guenther records first career NHL hat trick

Dylan Guenther of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his first career National Hockey League hat trick on New Year’s Day. He accomplished the feat in a 7-2 Utah Mammoth win over the New York Islanders at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

Guenther registered a team-high four points in the Mammoth win. It was the second time in Guenther’s career he had four points in a game. He also had one goal and three assists in a 4-3 Arizona Coyotes overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks on April 10, 2024.

Guenther’s first goal against the Islanders opened the scoring at the 36 second mark of the first period. Barrett Hayton of Peterborough, Ontario and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev had the assists. Guenther’s second goal put the Mammoth up 2-1 at 10:20 of the first period. Guenther scored from Lawson Crouse of Mount Brydges, Ontario and Hayton on an all-Canadian goal. Guenther’s third goal put the Mammoth up 6-2. Guenther scored from Crouse and defenseman Sean Durzi of Mississauga, Ontario with six minutes and six seconds left in the game.

In 2025-26, Guenther has 20 goals and 16 assists for 36 points. He is a +3 with 10 penalty minutes, 10 power-play points, five game-winning goals, 135 shots on goal, 17 faceoff wins, 13 blocked shots, 34 hits, eight takeaways, and 37 giveaways.

With the win, the Mammoth improve to a record of 19 wins, 19 regulation losses and three losses in extra time. The have 41 points and tied with the Seattle Kraken and Los Angeles Kings for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
