Dylan Deschamps wins World Cup big air freestyle skiing bronze in Switzerland

Dylan Deschamps of Quebec City, Quebec won the bronze medal in a World Cup men’s big air freestyle skiing event in Chur, Switzerland on Friday. For Deschamps. it was his second career World Cup medal.

Deschamps posted a score of 172.25 points. Matej Svancer of Austria won the gold medal with a score of 186 points. Tormod Frostad of Norway won the silver medal with 178 points. Deschamps reached the podium by 1.25 points. Elias Syrja of Finland was in fourth place with 171 points.

It was actually an impressive by Deschamps who exemplified remarkable resiliency. Deschamps fell during his first run, and then came back with two exceptional runs to finish the competition. He had a second run score of 86.5, and a third run score of 85.75. In the final in World Cup big air freestyle skiing, competitors go three times each, and the top two scores count.

Deschamps’s first World Cup medal came on October 19, 2023. That was a gold medal in Chur.

This was the first World Cup men’s big air freestyle skiing event of the 2024-25 season. In all there are six events, with the next five coming in China, France, the United States, and two in Austria. The bronze medal for Deschamps will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
