Dozen Canadians win 2026 NCAA Frozen Four Championship at University of Denver

The University of Denver Pioneers have won the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men’s Hockey Championship. In the Frozen Four Final from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Pioneers defeated the University of Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 2-1.

The Pioneers had 12 Canadians on their roster. They were defenseman and team captain Kent Anderson of Calgary, Alberta, defenseman Cale Ashcroft of St. Albert, Alberta, defenseman Boston Buckberger of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, left winger Clarke Caswell of Brandon, Manitoba, centre Kyle Chyzowski of Surrey, British Columbia, goaltender Paxton Geisel of Estevan, Saskatchewan, goaltender Johnny Hicks of Kamloops, British Columbia, defenseman Eric Jamieson of Calgary, left winger Rieger Lorenz of Calgary, centre Brady Milburn of Kamloops, British Columbia, goaltender Quentin Miller of Montreal, Quebec, and left winger Reid Varkonyi of Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Hicks was named the Frozen Four most valuable player. In the semifinal, a 4-3 Pioneers win over the University of Michigan Wolverines, Hicks made 49 saves in a 4-3 double overtime win. In the final, Hicks made 29 saves. Hicks, Buckberger, Lorenz and Chyzowski were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Lorenz and Chyzowski were the Pioneers who scored in the gold medal game. This was the Pioneers 11th Frozen Four title in the history of the school.
