Small forward Dillon Brooks of Mississauga, Ontario has been traded. According to Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report on Sunday, Brooks has been traded from the Houston Rockets to the Phoenix Suns with Jalen Green, a first round pick in the 2025 National Basketball Association Draft (10th overall), and five additional second round picks in the NBA Draft for future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant.

The Suns are the third NBA franchise that Brooks belongs to. He previously played six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2017 to 2023, and the last two seasons with the Houston Rockets from 2023 to 2025.

Brooks averaged 14 points per game this past season. He also averaged 3.7 rebounds per game, and 1.7 assists per game with the Rockets. Brooks also had a field goal percentage of .429, three point percentage of .397, and a free throw percentage of .818.

Throughout his NBA career, Brooks has been recognized as an elite defender and difficult to play against. In 2022-23, he was  on the NBA’s second defensive team. Brooks was honoured alongside former Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby. On the international side, Brooks was highly praised for his defensive skills at the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the Philippines. Canada won the bronze medal, where they beat a team based out of the United States.
