The third day of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games is set to commence. Here is what to expect.

Women’s Slopestyle Skiing

There are two great medal opportunities for Canada in women’s slopestyle skiing. Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec is the gold medal favourite in the women’s big air skiing event, but she is also in the medal conversation in slopestyle. At the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado last month, we saw Urness’s excellence as she came away with a silver medal. Urness was only behind Great Britain’s Kristy Muir. Meanwhile, Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario has won 11 World Cup medals, including nine medals in slopestyle. She is ranked third in the world, behind Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland and Marin Hamill of the United States, however Hamill failed to qualify for the final. Oldham has won a medal in women’s slopestyle skiing at the last three World Championships. The first run starts at 4:30 AM MT.

Figure Skating

Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Ontario are in the hunt for a medal in ice dance. They have won two silver medals and two bronze medals in ice dance at the World Figure Skating Championships since 2021. They will face a tough test from teams from the United States, France, Italy, and Great Britain in their quest to reach the podium. The ice dance competition begins with the rhythm dance at 11:20 AM MT.

Women’s Hockey

Canada will play its second game of the Olympic women’s hockey tournament after blanking Switzerland 4-0 on Saturday. Their opponent on Monday is the Czech Republic (1:10 PM MT), who came away with their first win of the Olympic women’s hockey tournament on Sunday as they blanked Finland 2-0. The Czechs’s record is one win and two losses, and this is their final Group A game. Canada is still to play the United States on Tuesday (12:10 pm MT) and Finland on Thursday (6:30 am MT).
