Team Canada is now at four medals (one silver and three bronze) after five days of competition. That is good enough for 10th place in the overall medal count. Here is what to expect from Thursday’s action from Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. We just so happen to predict four medals for Canada on Thursday.

Curling

Rachel Homan’s quest for Olympic gold begins on Thursday with the women’s curling event getting underway. Homan is a three-time gold medalist at the Women’s World Curling Championship, but is still seeking her first ever Olympic medal. Her opponent in the first draw of the Olympic event is Denmark’s Madeleine Dupont (1am MT), the silver medalist from the 2007 Women’s World Curling Championship in Aomori, Japan.

Moguls

Mikael Kingsbury, the greatest men’s mogulist of all-time, is set to go on Thursday. This time the pride of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec has Canadian company. That is because Kingsbury is joined by Julien Viel of Quebec City, Quebec, who has won a bronze medal at a World Cup in Ruka, Finland back in December. The men’s final takes place at 4:55 AM MT.

Snowboard Cross

This is Canada’s best chance for an Olympic medal in snowboarding. Eliot Grondin of Sainte-Marie, Quebec is the reigning world champion and reigning Olympic silver medalist. His quest for gold begins at 5:45 AM MT. The small final is at 6:56 AM MT, and the big final is at 7:01 AM MT.

Women’s Hockey

Canada will try to rebound after a disappointing 5-0 loss to the United States on Tuesday. Their game against Finland (6:30 am MT) was originally to be played last Thursday, but was rescheduled because Finland had Norovirus.

Speed Skating

Isabelle Weidemann of Ottawa, Ontario was the silver medalist in the women’s 5000m at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and won a World Cup silver medal in the women’s 5000m at an event in Heerenveen, Netherlands in December.

Men’s Hockey

This is Team Canada’s first game in men’s hockey of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Their opponent is the Czech Republic, the team that should have been included in the Four Nations tournament a year ago. Game time is 8:40 am MT.

Halfpipe Snowboarding

Elizabeth Hosking of Longueuil, Quebec won a World Cup in Calgary on January 3. That was her fourth World Cup medal in the last four years. Hosking will go fifth among the 12 snowboarders in Thursday’s final.

Short Track Speed Skating

There are multiple medal opportunities for Canada on Thursday. In the women’s 500 metres (1:36 PM MT), Courtney-Lee Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick is ranked second in the world, and in the men’s 1000 metres (1:48 PM MT), William Dandjinou of Sherbrooke, Quebec is the 2024 World Cup champion.
