Team Canada is now at seven medals (three silver and four bronze) after six days of competition. On Friday, the focus will be on curling, hockey, and speed skating.
Curling
Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs plays twice on Saturday. He will face the United States at 1 am MT and Sweden at 11 am MT. Jacobs won his first game by a score of 7-6 over Germany in 11 ends. The United States is 1-1 (beat the Czech Republic 8-7 and lost 8-3 to Switzerland), and Sweden is 0-2 (lost 6-3 to Great Britain and 7-6 to Italy). On the women’s side, Canada faces the United States at 6 am MT after beating Denmark 10-4 in their opening game.
Hockey
Team Canada plays their second game of back-to-back days in men’s action when they face Switzerland (1pm). It was a flawless performance by Team Canada on Thursday in a 5-0 win over Czechia, but there is concern over the health of defenseman Josh Morrissey, as he left the game due to injury.
Speed Skating
Ted-Jan Bloemen has had an incredible speed skating career, and is Canada’s best chance for a medal on Friday. He will be competing in the men’s 10 000 metres (8 am MT). Bloemen is a former world record holder in the men’s 10 000 metres, and won gold in the event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
