Day 12 Preview of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games

Heading into the 12th day of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo, Canada is at 12 medals (three gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals). They are in 10th place in the overall medal standings. Here is what Wednesday has in store.

Snowboarding 

The great Mark McMorris of Regina, Saskatchewan has a chance of winning a fourth straight medal in men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the Olympic Winter Games. He has won the bronze medal in the event at the last three Olympics. The event commences at 3:20 AM MT, with McMorris having the third best qualification score. Cameron Spalding of Peterborough, Ontario is also in the final.

Meanwhile, women’s slopestyle snowboarding will also go on Wednesday (6:30 AM MT) after being postponed to today because of inclement weather yesterday. Canada is represented by 2018 Olympic silver medalist Laurie Blouin of Quebec City, Quebec and Juliette Pelchat of Squamish, British Columbia.

Alpine Skiing 

The women’s slalom takes place today with the second run for the medals going at 5:30 AM. Laurence St-Germain of Quebec City was the surprise world champion in the women’s slalom in 2023.

Curling 

Canada’s Brad Jacobs and Rachel Homan both play Italy today. Jacobs plays Joel Retornaz at 6am MT and Homan plays Stefania Constantini at 11am MT. Jacobs is at 6-1, and Homan is at 4-3.

Freestyle Skiing 

Women’s aerials takes place at 6am MT. Marion Thenault of Sherbrooke, Quebec has won 13 World Cup medals over the last five years.

Hockey 

Team Canada is in the quarterfinals today of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament. They will face the Czech Republic again after playing them in pool play and beating them 5-0. The start time is 8:40 AM MT.

Short Track Speed Skating 

Canada has multiple medal opportunities in short track speed skating. Canada is in the final of the women’s 3000 metre relay (1pm MT), while Steven Dubois of Laval, Quebec and William Dandjinou of Sherbrooke, Quebec are medal contenders in the men’s 500 metres. Dubois is the reigning Olympic bronze medalist and Dandjinou was the World Cup champion in the men’s 500 metres this past year.
