Day 10 Preview of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games

Heading into the 10th day of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo, Canada is at nine medals (one gold medal, three silver medals and five bronze medals). They are in 11th place in the overall medal standings. Here is what Monday has in store.

Curling 

Canada’s Rachel Homan finds herself needing to win seven straight games to win an Olympic gold medal. The quest begins Monday against China’s Rui Wang (2-2) at 1am MT and South Korea’s Eun-ji Gim (3-2) at 11am MT. Meanwhile on the men’s side, Brad Jacobs (4-1) plays the Czech Republic (0-5) at 6am MT.

Short Track Speed Skating 

Courtney Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick is trying to win her third medal of this year’s Olympic Winter Games. On Monday, she will be competing in the women’s 1000 metres. Sarault was the World Cup champion in the women’s 1000 metres in the fall and won the silver medal in the women’s 1000 metres at the 2025 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Beijing.

Freestyle Skiing

There are two great medal opportunities here. Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario had the top qualification score of 171.75 points, while Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec has been on the podium three times in the World Cup circuit so far this year (gold in Steamboat, Colorado, silver in Secret Garden, China, and bronze in Beijing).

Figure Skating 

It was a terrific short program for the Canadian pair of Lia Pereira of Milton, Ontario and Trennt Michaud of Belleville, Ontario. The Canadian champions are in third place with 74.6 points. They are behind pairs teams from Germany and Georgia.

Hockey 

Canada will play their semifinal game against Switzerland in women’s hockey on Monday at 1 pm MT. Canada beat Switzerland 4-0 in Group A action last Saturday to open the tournament. The other semifinal is the United States versus Sweden.
