Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh of Toronto, Ontario collected his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 7-3 Lightning win over the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

Raddysh has simply been on fire as of late. In his last three games, he has four goals and three assists for seven points.

It was a rather unique hat trick for Raddysh because he became the third Lightning defenseman ever to register a hat trick. He joins Doug Crossman of Peterborough, Ontario and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Dan Boyle of Ottawa, Ontario. Crossman scored thrice in a 6-5 Lightning win over the New York Islanders on November 7, 1992. Boyle, who won a gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, scored three times in a 4-3 Lightning won over the New York Rangers on December 23, 2006. Boyle is also the last undrafted defenseman to register a NHL hat trick.

Raddysh’s first goal of the game came at 4:08 of the first period from Gage Goncalves of Mission, British Columbia and Nikita Kucherov. The Lightning went up 2-0. Raddysh then put the Lightning up 4-1 at 2:49 of the second period with a game-winning goal on the power-play from Jake Guentzel and Kucherov. Raddysh then put the Lightning up 7-1 from Nick Paul of Mississauga, Ontario and Kucherov with three minutes and seven seconds left in the second period on the power-play. Raddysh is one of two players in the game with a hat trick. The other was Pavol Regenda of the Sharks, who is also undrafted.

In 2025-26, Raddysh has 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points in 35 games. He is a +11 with 19 penalty minutes, 11 power-play points, three game-winning goals, 81 shots on goal, 32 blocked shots, 33 hits, six takeaways and 31 giveaways. With the win, the Lightning move into first place in the Atlantic Division. They have a record of 25 wins, 13 regulation losses, and three losses in extra time for 53 points, and have one more point than the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings.
