Damien Alford and Nathan Rourke shine in week 6 of 2025 CFL season

Week six of the 2025 Canadian Football League regular season is now complete and two Canadians had exceptional performances. They were Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Damien Alford of Montreal, Quebec and British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia.

Alford had six catches for 156 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 24-10 Stampeders win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday. Alford’s first touchdown catch was for 21 yards from quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and put the Stampeders up 7-3 with three minutes and 58 seconds left in the first quarter. Alford’s second touchdown catch was for 81 yards and came with four minutes and 43 seconds left in the third quarter to close out the scoring. For the season, Alford has 10 catches for 221 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With the win, the Stampeders moved into first place in the West Division at four wins and one loss.

Rourke completed 26 of 30 passes for 345 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in a 32-14 win over the Edmonton Elks on Sunday. He also had two rushes for eight rushing yards. Rourke’s first touchdown was for 16 yards to Jevon Cottoy at 4:46 of the second quarter to put the Lions up 10-0. Rourke’s second touchdown was for seven yards to Stanley Berryhill with eight seconds left in the first half to put the Lions up 24-7. On the season, Rourke has 87 completions in 129 attempts for 1270 passing yards, with seven touchdown passes and three interceptions. He has 21 rushes for 163 rushing yards and two touchdown runs, as the Lions are 3-3.
