Corey Conners moves closer to Rose at the 2025 Masters

Corey Conners is still in contention at the 2025 Masters in Augusta, Georgia. After shooting an opening round score of four-under-par 68 on Thursday, he came back with a second round score of two-under-par 70 on Friday.

Conners is currently at -6 and two strokes back of the leader Justin Rose of London, England. Rose, the 2013 United States Open champion, is at -8. After being three strokes back of Rose after round one, he is two strokes back after round two.

On Friday, Conners had four birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the second, eighth, and 11th and 13th holes, and bogeyed the 10th and 12th holes.

Two-time United States Open champion Bryson DeChambeau of the United States is alone in second place at -7. Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is tied with Conners for second place at -6. There is then a four-way tie for fifth place at -5. There you can find Americans Matt McCarty and Scottie Scheffler, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, and England’s Terrell Hatton. Scheffler won the Masters in 2022 and 2024, while Lowry won the 2019 British Open,

Conners is currently 21st in the world. He is one of three Canadian golfers currently ranked in the top 50. Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba is 31st and Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario is 41st.

Since 2020, Conners has had three top 10 finishes at the Masters. He was sixth in 2022, eighth in 2021, and 10th in 2020.
