Connor Ingram records ninth career NHL shutout

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his ninth career National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Oilers win over the Seattle Kraken at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Ingram made 27 saves for the shutout. He made six saves in the first period, 13 saves in the second period and eight saves in the third period. Defenseman Vince Dunn of Mississauga, Ontario led the Kraken with five shots on goal.

One Canadian scored for the Oilers. On an all-Canadian goal with two minutes and 26 seconds left into an empty net to complete the scoring, Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario scored from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia and Zach Hyman of  Toronto, Ontario.

What was remarkable about Ingram’s shutout is the fact that it came on his 29th birthday. For the season, he has a record of 14 regulation wins, eight regulation losses and two losses in extra time. Ingram also has two shutouts this season with a goals against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .898. Ingram’s first shutout came on January 18 in a 5-0 Oilers win over the St. Louis Blues.

With the win, the Oilers improved to a record of 38 wins, 28 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time. They are in second place in the Pacific Division.
