Edmonton Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his eighth career National Hockey League shutout on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-0 Oilers win over the St. Louis Blues on Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.
For Ingram, it was his first shutout with the Oilers. His other seven shutouts came with the Arizona Coyotes. In fact, Ingram led the NHL with six shutouts during the 2023-24 season.
Ingram made 27 saves for the shutout. He made seven saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period, and eight saves the thirds period. Three Blues led the team with three shots on goal. They were Dylan Holloway of Calgary, Alberta, Blues captain Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon, and Jimmy Snuggerud.
This season, Ingram improved to a record of five wins, three regulation losses and one loss in extra time. He had a goals against average of 2.22 and a save percentage of .917.
Offensively, Zach Hyman of Toronto, Ontario led the Oilers in scoring with three points (two goals and one assist). Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario also had a multi-point game as he had two assists for two points. Two more Canadians on the Oilers scored a goal. They were Andrew Mangiapane of Toronto and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia, who was playing in his 1000th NHL game.
With the win, the Oilers improved to a record of 25 wins, 17 regulation losses and eight losses in extra time. They have 58 points and two points back of the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division.
