Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard of Edmonton, Alberta led the Panthers to a gigantic 31-28 upset win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The win was noteworthy because the Panthers were a 10.5 point underdog, but won by a field goal.
Hubbard had 17 rushes for 83 rushing yards and two catches for 41 receiving yards and a major score. Hubbard’s touchdown was a 35 yard touchdown catch from 2023 overall pick Bryce Young with seven minutes and 38 seconds left in the first quarter. At the time, the Panthers tied the game at seven.
This was Hubbard’s longest touchdown catch in his NFL career, fifth touchdown catch in his NFL career, and only the second time in Hubbard’s career he had a touchdown catch in a Panthers win. The first time was a six yard touchdown catch from Andy Dalton in a 36-22 Panthers win over the Las Vegas Raiders on September 22, 2024.
In 2025, Hubbard has 111 rushes for 433 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also has 23 catches for 194 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.
With the win, the Panthers improved to a record of seven wins and six losses. They are in second place in the NFC South and only half a game back of the division leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
