Canada wins two gold medals at 2025 Skate Canada

Team Canada won two gold medals and three medals overall at 2025 Skate Canada in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan this past weekend. One gold medal came in pairs on Saturday (Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec) and the other gold medal came in ice dance on Sunday (Piper Gilles of Toronto, Ontario and Paul Poirier of Ottawa, Ontario). Canada’s third medal was also in ice dance as Marjorie Lajoie of Boucherville, Quebec and Zachary Lagha of Greenfield Park, Quebec won bronze.

Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps had a winning score of 213.4 points. Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany won the silver medal with a score of 207.18 points. Ellie Kam and Daniel O’Shea of the United States won the bronze medal with a score of 199.11 points. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps reached the podium by 26.86 points. Lia Pereira of Milton, Ontario and Trennt Michaud of Belleville, Ontario finished in fourth place with a score of 186.54 points.

Gilles and Poirier had a winning score of 202.89 points. Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius of Lithuania won the silver medal with a score of 200.92 points. Lajoie and Lagha won the bronze medal with a score of 192.41 points. Gilles and Poirier reached the podium by 11.66 points and Lajoie and Lagha reached the podium by 1.18 points over Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko of the United States, who had a fourth place score of 191.23 points. The medals for Stellato-Dudek, Deschamps, Gilles, Poirier, Lajoie and Lagha will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
