Team Canada is in the gold medal game in Olympic men’s curling and the semifinal game in Olympic women’s curling. On Thursday in the final game of the women’s round robin, Canada’s Rachel Homan defeated South Korea’s Eun-ji Gim 10-7 to improve to a record of six wins and three losses. Homan’s most notable end was the sixth end, when she scored four points to take an 8-4 lead. Homan made a great double takeout in the end to take a commanding lead.

Homan will now face Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg in one of two semifinals. The other semifinal will feature the United States versus Switzerland. Sweden had the best record in the round robin at seven wins and two losses. Canada, Switzerland and the United States were all at six wins and three losses. However, the Canadians finished fourth because they lost to Switzerland and the United States in the round robin.

On the men’s side, Brad Jacobs defeated Norway’s Magnus Ramsfjell 5-4 in one of two semifinal games. The game went into 11 ends before Jacobs was victorious. This was much more of a defensive battle than what we saw from Homan’s game. Jacobs will now face Great Britain’s Bruce Mouat in the gold medal game on Saturday at 11am MT.
